Rolex Explorer Review

I couldn’t believe my eyes in 2021 when Rolex revealed the Explorer reference 124273. As a watch enthusiast, I’m used to surprises, but this one took the cake. The Rolex Explorer, known for its straightforward, no-frills approach, suddenly donned a new avatar. The combination of steel and gold in the Rolesor construction breathed new life into the iconic design.

Rolex Explorer Review 3

The 36mm case, a size I’ve always admired for Explorers, took on a touch of luxury with flashes of yellow gold on the bezel, crown, and bracelet links, all in that unmistakable Rolex style. And the black dial? Classic, yes, but now illuminated with Chromalight-powered numerals at three, six, and nine. The Mercedes hands and signature script are the finishing touches that make this dial both legible and attractive.

What truly struck me was this transformation – an Explorer that’s not just about rugged exploration but also about refinement. This watch, with its Automatic movement and 70-hour power reserve thanks to the Calibre 3230, is more than just a timekeeper; it’s a conversation starter. Wearing it on my wrist felt like embracing the unexpected, like letting a classic tale evolve into something even more intriguing.
